Sir Annamalai Chettiar Memorial Trust was established in the year 1956 to
perpetuate the memory of late Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar of Chettinad,
a distinguished citizen, great philanthropist and founder of the Annamalai
University. Dr. Rajah Sir M.A. Muthiah Chettiar of Chettinad was the Founder
Trustee of the above Trust. Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy is the Patron and his son
Sri M.A.M.R. Muthiah is the President of the Trust. Thiru A.R. Ramaswamy
is the Secretary and Thiru K. Chidambaram is the Treasurer of the Trust.
The Members of the Trust include eminent persons from various fields.The Trust owns a magnificent building with Ground and 8 Floors located in the heart of the city near the Anna Fly Over in a posh commercial area. It is also having an Auditorium called “Rani Seethai Hall” in the above building. The seating capacity of the Hall is 640. It is being rented out to conduct programmes like Dramas, Carnatic Music and Bharatha Natyams, etc. at a nominal rent of Rs. 3.000/-
The Trust gives donations for various charitable purpose amounting to lakhs of rupees every year.
The Trust is also giving donations for promotion of Science, Literature, Fine Arts, Health & Education. It gives Scholarship of Rs. 5,000/- each to 6 meritorious students of professional courses every year till completion of their courses and so far for this purpose the Trust has donated a sum of Rs. 10.65 lakhs. It is also giving Scholorship of Rs. 1000/- each to 16 studednts of the Music College at Annamalai University every year.
Every year on the birthday of Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar on 30th September, on the birthday of Rani Lady Meyyammai Achi on 111th October on the birthday of Dr. Rajah Sir M.A. Muthiah Chettiar on 5th August, and on the birthday of Kumara Rajah M.A.M. Muthiah Chettiar on 6th September, the Trust is awarding Rs. 1,00,000/- each to eminent persons with record of yeomen services for the growth of Tamil Isai, upliftment of women and to the best Tamil Scholar and the Institution serving physically handicapped people.

The Trust is very happy to note that the Nagarathar Ikkiya Sangam, Chennai is celebrating the 100th Birth Anniversary of the Founder Dr. Rajah Sir M.A.Muthiah Chettiar of Chettinad during the year 2004-2005.
